Douglas HiFi NAD C368 BluOS 2i Notes : The NAD C368 is one of our staff favourites here in-store. NAD have made a great sounding amplifier with plenty of features that we find suits exactly what people are looking for. It has a built in DAC (Digital to Analogue Converter) on both Optical and Coaxial as well as a couple of analogue RCA inputs. There is a good quality Turntable Phono MM input and Bluetooth AptX wireless as well as supporting "A and B" speakers. The NAD C368 also has expansion bays where optional features such as HDMI and Hi Resolution BluOS music streaming can be added. The BluOS 2i version here has the Hi Resolution BluOS streaming board fitted so Spotify Connect, Apple AirPlay2, Tidal etc. are all catered for - This gives this amp a great balance of features and performance.
NAD have been producing quality HiFi and A/V equipment for nearly half a century - over that period of time NAD has always focussed on affordable, innovative products that make real world sense and of course, beautiful sounding music. The latest range of NAD products continue this tradition and maintain the simple, clean look that is also part of the NAD philosophy.
The latest Classic series of amplifiers all utilise the Hybrid Hypex UcD Digital Amplification technology that delivers great sound, uses less power and outputs low distortion. The NAD C368 delivers an awesome array of power, features, expansion options and of course - fantastic audio quality.
NAD has leveraged its hybrid digital amplifier technology into a wide variety of products. With efficient signal paths come low distortion and the honest, neutral sound NAD is famous for. The C 368 BluOs 2i Hybrid Digital Integrated Amplifier takes a rugged and reliable two-channel design and adds built in Hi Resolution streaming along with analogue and digital inputs . Although (1x) of the MDC expansion slots is occupied by the Hi Resolution BluOs 2i card - there is still an extra MDC expansion slot ensuring that the NAD C368 stays up to date with modern features.
Following in the footsteps of some of NAD’s greatest units, the NAD C 368 BluOs 2i delivers todays modern set of features, while firmly adhering to NAD’s unwavering commitment to exquisite sound. The C 368 can wirelessly connect to any smartphone, tablet, with Bluetooth® AptX to give you a seamless listening experience. Featuring a MM phono input, the C 368 makes it a doddle to connect a turntable and listen to your vinyl LPs. The C 368 also features a headphone amplifier, letting you connect your favourite headphones and settle back into your own world of detailed sound.
the NAD C368 BluOs 2i - A Flexible Integrated Amplifier with HiRes streaming and MDC expansion
When it comes to Classic Series amplifiers, no feature is overlooked. Low noise circuits, precise volume control action, and accurate channel balance are all key characteristics of the C 368. With the added bonus of proper input and output impedance traits (ensuring a linear frequency response across all inputs), plus high overload margins and stability with difficult speaker loads, the C 368 BluOs 2i will slot into any system and produce great quality, low distortion sound whenever streaming, listening to vinyl or connecting through digital. The C 368 BluOs 2i still has an MDC expansion slot vacant allowing for extra inputs and features to be added either at the time of purchase or indeed - at a later date.
Versatility in Spades
The line inputs of the C 368 BluOs 2i can accommodate all kinds of analogue source components (2 stereo analogue inputs). It offers ideal input impedance attributes with linear, ultra-low noise buffer amplifiers to prevent any sonic degradation caused by improper loading of the source device. The C 368 BluOs 2i also features a separate headphone amplifier with low output impedance and very high output voltage capability, enough in fact to drive even high impedance studio monitor headphones. The low impedance line outputs can also connect to either a subwoofer or a bigger power amplifier to further extend the versatility of the C 368 BluOs 2i.
Ready for Streaming out the box
With support for Bluetooth as well as WiFi/Wired BluOs Hi Res streaming you can instantly connect and listen to the music service of your choice, or wirelessly stream music and playlists stored directly on your smartphone, tablet or computer. The NAD C368 BluOs 2i has the optional BluOS HiRes Streamer Option pre-installed and ready to go.
Hypex Output Stage
The C 368 uses a customised version of the proven Hypex UcD output stage. This allows for massive power with nearly immeasurable distortion and noise in the audible range. Every detail of this design has been carefully crafted and perfectly executed to wring out the best performance possible. The perfect amp for audiophiles and music lovers alike, the C 368 will flawlessly deliver NAD’s signature flexibility and expansive power.
The NAD C368 integrated amplifier is also bridgeable to get 300w rms in one channel (then if used in conjunction with the optional NAD C268 power amplifier which is also bridgeable it is possible to get 300w rms to both speakers).
NAD C368 Amplifier Reviews and Specifications
Stereo Magazine - "This integrated amplifier provides vivid and agile sound together with superb resolution, pressure, dynamics as well as temperament and it is altogether just great fun."
Soundstage SimpliFi - "The C 368 had no problem fleshing out layers in the formidable wall-of-sound mix, even at a loud listening level. The voices came through as full and deep, with natural, throaty textures. Open-string electric-guitar lines floated loose and large across the soundstage, and the percussion instruments had a lively, almost physical quality: I could sense the tension of drum surfaces being slapped by hands".
AVS Forum - "I learned to appreciate the C 368’s fundamental invisibility. With this unit, thanks to its drama-free, neutral, yet meticulous presentation, you’re not listening to a DAC and you’re not listening to an amplifier. Rather, you’re listening to speakers and you’re listening to the music itself—as it should be".
