Antipodes S40 Hi-Res Music Server/ROON core

As the evolution of digital audio progresses the concept of a music server or ROON core is becoming the defacto standard to enhance both quality of audio streamed or served as well as a centralised interface for ease of use. The S40 is a more powerful server/player than the S30 and is recommended for people with multiple zones/end points or if you wish to apply DSP to the streaming signal (via ROON for instance).

The small form factor Antipodes S40 uses the same server engine as is used in the K30, but is powered by a standard external power supply brick. The S40 can be upgraded by adding the HSL50-based S60 Power Supply, to deliver considerably better audio performance.

The Antipodes S40 is recommended for use as:

• A powerful Server/Player, running both Server Apps and Player Apps, or

• A dedicated Server-only, to stream to the Ethernet input of your DAC (or Amp), or to stream to an Antipodes S30 (used as a Player-only).

The Antipodes S40 includes analog output on headphone jack. This is provided for convenience and does not imply Antipodes have included a headphone DAC of the same class as the music server engine. The analog sound is good and is provided to enable an easier entry point for someone that does not yet have a good DAC. To realise the full potential of the S40, you should add a quality DAC, or stream to a quality Player such as an Antipodes S30.
